SAQS Peer Review Team Visit to ULAB School of Business
The School of Business, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), successfully hosted the Peer Review Team (PRT) of the South Asian Quality Assurance System (SAQS) from 11–13 August 2026 as part of its quality assurance and accreditation process. The three-day visit provided an important opportunity for the PRT to assess ULAB School of Business’s (USB) academic and administrative practices, institutional systems, stakeholder engagement, campus facilities, and commitment to continuous improvement against SAQS standards.
The PRT was led by Professor AbdurRab, Vice Chancellor of the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT). The other members of the PRT were Professor SomayajulyGarimella, Distinguished Professor (Adjunct), Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida, and Former Director, Institute of Management, NIRMA University, Ahmedabad, India; Professor Jit Tshering, Centre for Leadership Development, Royal Institute of Management, Thimphu, Bhutan; and Mr. Khondkar Morshed Millat, Sustainable Finance and Sustainability Specialist, Faculty Member, Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM), and Former Director, Sustainable Finance Department, Bangladesh Bank. The diverse composition of the team brought together extensive academic, institutional, regional, sustainability, financial-sector, and industry perspectives.
During the visit, the PRT held meetings with the leadership of ULAB and USB, faculty members, students, alumni, administrative and support staff, and corporate and other external stakeholders. The team reviewed relevant documents, policies, procedures, academic activities, research and consultancy initiatives, international collaborations, student support services, and corporate engagement practices. The PRT also visited the ULAB School of Business campus facilities to observe the physical and learning environment and assess the facilities and resources supporting teaching, learning, student development, and academic activities.
These interactions and observations enabled the PRT to develop a comprehensive understanding of USB’s educational environment, achievements, strengths, and areas for further improvement. The visit also provided USB with an opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to academic quality, stakeholder engagement, internationalization, sustainability, and continuous institutional development. Based on the PRT report, the SAQS accreditation awarding committee will make the final decision regarding the accreditation, which USB is yet to receive.
Overall, the SAQS PRT visit was a significant milestone in the quality assurance journey of the ULAB School of Business. The constructive discussions, stakeholder interactions, facility observations, and professional feedback from the distinguished PRT members are expected to contribute to USB’s continued pursuit of academic excellence and strengthen its position in the regional and international higher education landscape.
